AFS trip

Hi Everyone,

Hope all is going well and that the first day of school has been successful.

The purpose of this message is to let you know about a trip to Western NY coming up Columbus Day Weekend (October 8-12). We will be staying in a motel one night and will be hosted by Western NY host families the other nights.

We will be leaving Thursday, October 8th in the morning and returning on Columbus Day, October 12th in the evening. This will require missing two days of school.

The plan for the trip is as follows:

Thursday, 10/8 – Depart 8:30 a.m. from Hastings-on-Hudson. Travel to Utica, NY where we will visit the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees.

Friday, 10/9 – Travel to Eden, NY where we will meet up with Western NY AFSers for a visit to a farm and a kazoo factory.

Saturday, 10/10 – Visit Amish Country

Sunday, 10/11 – Visit Niagara Falls and attend a presentation by a local Native American

Monday 10/12 – Return to Hastings-on Hudson, visit Corning Glass Museum if time permits

Please let me know by September 15th if you would like to participate. If too many students are interested, we will make the selection by picking names out of a hat.
